Much Loved Croxteth Community Centre Re-Launches with Open Day 7th May 2017
Rhys Jones Community Centre CIC is delighted to announce the re-opening of the Community Centre
After a difficult period with the dissolution of the Rhys Jones Memorial Charity and a flood in the Community Centre, the Directors of the newly formed Rhys Jones Community Centre CIC are excited to re-open the doors of the much loved Community Centre.
Despite ongoing difficulties, local resident Karen Harper was determined not to see the community centre’s doors close. With assistance from fellow CIC Directors Sharon Jardine and Sharen Harwood, the Ladies set up a Community Interest Company and set the ball rolling stepping into the Charity’s shoes.
CIC Secretary, Sharon Jardine said, “No family should ever have to go through what Rhys Jones’ parents and brother have gone through. The Community Centre and pitches were originally set up to be a legacy and we are determined that the Community Centre will re-open and continue to be a beacon of light for the community”
Community Centre Manager, Karen Harper said, “Our Centre is Rhys` legacy and it is our privilege and honour to deliver projects, programmes and activities that will support and develop the community, promote a community spirit of positivity and support young and old alike. The Rhys Jones name means something to all of us and he will never be forgotten. It is our pledge to his parents and brother to make sure that our centre lives up to his name.”
Open Day Sunday 7th May 2017
The Community Centre re-opens with an open day from 1-5pm on Sunday 7th May 2017. All are welcome to come along.
During the Open Day in the hall and on the pitches, you can watch multiple sports from football, basketball, netball, gymnastics.
There’s representatives Santander. A local artist will be showcasing work. Take time out to have your face painted or get a glitter tattoo.
The kids can wear off some energy on the bouncy castle, dance along to the DJ or be entertained by Jumping Jacks. There is a health stand with a local holistic therapist and Avon for the adults to chill out.
